Asus adding “D”

October 11th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Asus adding DDR3 memory to entry level netbook, like PC 1001PQ or PC 1001PX to now be renamed to PC 1001PQD and 1001PXD respectively.

Asus uses D at the end for models with Intel Atom N455 processors. It’s a minor improvement, but it counts. Especially since prices of Asus with DDR2 will come down.

Starter ASUS has Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz processor, 1GB DDR3, 250GB HDD, 10.1″ WSVGA and integrated webcam. Windows 7 is included. 6-Cell battery yields 11 hours of battery life on a single charge and that makes it a nice travel companion. It sells for less than $300.
