Nvidia has stated before just what the ION has to add to the netbook world:

“By processing data-intensive applications in parallel with the CPU, ION-based Netbooks offer many of the same capabilities of full-sized notebooks including support for all versions of Microsoft Windows.”

Netbooks aren’t really known for the quality of sound they produce, but sometimes you just need some more volume when you’re supplying a party with music or watching a particularly epic movie. Thankfully, the new ASUS uBoomQ Sound-Bar speakers are here to fill that gap in your netbook accessory arsenal.

They’re big and weird looking, but these speakers can help you get some bass when you need it most. They weight 3 kg and require a dedicated power source but can put out woofer frequencies of 200-500 Hz.
No drivers or additional software is required – the speakers connect via USB and are ready to rock when you are. Check out the press release if you’re curious, but remember – you heard it at NBB first.

IA introduced its new NetNote systems Wednesday, netbooks meant to provide the power of a notebook at a lower price. The 10.2- to 12.1-inch NetNote netbooks are based on the SurfBoard platform.
The machines have a VIA VX855 media system within, including a choice of VIA C7-M ULV or VIA Nano CPUs. Hardware acceleration is supported for H.264, MPEG-2/4, VC-1 and WMV9.
The SurfBoard netbooks will also support an optional HDMI port, in case you want to connect to an external screen. However, their screens will support 1080p HD video, so you may not feel the need.

Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, VIA Vinyl 8-channel HD audio, and optional 3G.
VIA is first making the netbooks available to members of the VIA Global Mobility Bazaar (GMB) Program in China, but consumer markets will see the NetNote netbooks later this month.

We’ve seen a BMW branded netbook before, but it looks like the automobile industry is stepping it up a notch with the new Acer Ferrari One netbook. It runs the AMD Congo platform and is, naturally, sponsored by the Ferrari F1 Team.

Running the AMD Athlon X2 L310 processor, the netbook has dual cores running at 1.2 GHz. It uses the M780G chipset as well as ATI Radeon graphics. 1080p video is quote possible in the Acer Ferrari One as well.
The F1 netbook is based on the 11.6-inch Acer Aspire One and has a full 1366 x 768 pixels.

Other features include Draft-N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSDPA, a 6-cell battery, Dolby Home Theater, and an overall sexy exterior. The netbook is expected for €499 (around $730) on October 22nd, coinciding with the release of Microsoft’s Windows 7.

Sure, netbooks may be getting bigger, but that doesn’t mean Kohjinsha has to follow suit. See, Kohjinsha’s netbooks aren’t just ignoring the upwards trend – they’re going the other direction.
The Kohjinsha PM series is a perfect example of this idiosyncratic phenomenon. Featuring a 1.1 Ghz Atom N510 CPU and a 4.8-inch screen, this little gadget is almost pocket sized. It has a mere 512 MB of RAM, but has a full Windows OS, a 16 GB SSD, a mini-USB port, card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and touch-sensitivity on the screen.

It’s on sale for somewhere in the $800s, depending on where you look, which doesn’t seem very competitive. Get with the program, Kohjinsha!
