It appears that Acer has cancelled the orders of the Acer Aspire 532G ION-2 netbook. According to our friends at Blogee, 532G netbook has been cancelled by Acer. However, it is still unclear if the Acer has axed the plans for the rest of the world or for just Europe. Rumor has it that Acer or Nvidia were not able to make this netbook to deliver optimum performance. Acer has even cancelled all the preorders for this netbooks already.
So now, we have no competition for the ION-2 equipped Asus 1015N in the 10.1-inch netbook category.

Acer D260 is nothing but an updated version of the immensely popular Acer Aspire D250 netbook. This netbook claims to be first netbook to run Google Android system and Windows 7 on the same machine. We had a chance to play around with this netbook and were not much impressed with the Android part of the device and it looks like Acer made a rough port to x86 platform and shoved it in D260. It runs older version of Android (Android 1.5 OS) and it was crystal clear that Acer did not put in a lot of efforts in polishing the Android for the netbook. Anyway, here is a quick rundown of its specs:
- 10.1-inch display
- 1024×600 pixel resolution
- 1.66GHz Atom N450/N455
- upto 250GB HDD
- Wi-Fi b/g/n
- Optional Bluetooth 3.0
Looks like Acer is prepping an HD version of its Acer Aspire 532G netbook. This netbook will sport 1280×768 pixel resolution, while rest of the specs remains same as the non-HD model. Two models of this netbook have been spotted – one has 1GB RAM and another has 2GB, priced at 378 Euro and 399 Euro respectively. Acer is reportedly preparing to launch a new 10 inch netbook with support for Intel’s new Atom N455 and N475 processors. The biggest change is that these chips can accept DDR3 memory while all of Acer’s existing netbooks are stuck with plain ole DDR2 RAM.
The folks at Macles note that the upcoming Acer Aspire One 533 also features shiny chromed edges around the touchpad buttons and part of the lid.
DDR3 memory uses a little less power than DDR2 memory, which should help boost battery life a tiny bit. Acer says the Aspire One 533 should be good for up to 10 hours of run time. The netbook features a 10.1 inch display, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, optional Bluetooth 3.0, and either a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 or 1.83GHz Intel Atom N475 processor.
The Acer Aspire 721 is one of the first mini-laptops from Acer (or any company for that matter) to feature a new AMD Nile processor. And the laptop is available for pre-order from Amazon for $430 plus free shipping.
The Aspire 721 packs an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel HD display and a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 single core processor. it has ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics with 384MB of dedicated video memory, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and a 6 cell, 4400mah battery.
The laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and weighs about 3.1 pounds. We won’t know for a little while just how these computers stack up against machines with Intel CULV processors in terms of performance and battery life. But for $430, the Acer Aspire 721 costs just a little more than a typical netbook and offers a higher resolution display, higher performance graphics, and a version of Windows that isn’t crippled. As long as the processor is at least as fast as a typical Atom chip, this notebook seems like it could be a pretty good deal.
Acer has released a new netbook called Aspire One 360, which looks quite a lot like the recently unveiled Acer 521 netbook. Interestingly, there is no evidence of it on the Acer’s German or International website.
But, we are guessing that it has an Atom processor, same (cramped) keyboard, 10.1-inch 1024×600 pixel display and will be available in 4 colors – Black, Purple, Pink and Blue. There is a nice pattern on its lid too, which looks like ‘meh’.
