Acer released their latest lineup of 11.6-inchers, both in AMD and Intel flavors, earlier this year but now and then some new models find their way into the world, unannounced. Late last month, a new Intel version – the Acer Aspire 1430 showed up on Acer’s products pages with a newer Core i5 processor – the i5-540UM. Today, there’s a new AMD version that’s shown up with a new, previously unheard of AMD Nile processor.
This processor – the AMD Athlon II Neo K145, seems to be a short step up from the K125; instead of a 1.7 GHz clock speed it’s at 1.8 GHz and other than that, it shares the same features as the K125 – 1MB of L2 cache and a 12W power draw.
The rest of this particular Acer Aspire One 721 are nothing unusual – ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB HDD, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery.
Last month Gateway introduces the LT32 notebook, which is basically a rebranded version of the Acer Aspire One 721 11.6 inch laptop with a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 CPU and ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics. But it looks like Gateway also has a 10.1 inch model in its arsenal, dubbed the Gateway LT22.
The new model is basically the same machine as the Acer Aspire One 521 netbook which I recently reviewed. On the inside it’s virtually identical to the LT32, but the LT22 has a smaller 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display instead of an 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 pixel screen. It also has a smaller chassis and keyboard.
The LT22 also ships with Windows 7 Starter Edition while the LT32 comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. They’re available now in Canada for $350 and $450 respectively. The Gateway LT32 is also available in the US for $450, but there’s still no word on a US launch date or price for the Gateway LT22.
The Acer Aspire One AO721 (721) 11.6-inch AMD-based ultraportable netbook is now on sale in the US.
The first model offered is the Aspire One AO721-3574. It features the AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor at 1.7GHz, ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics, 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 250GB hard drive with Windows 7 Home Premium OS pre-installed, a LED-backlight display with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, and a 6-cell battery for up to 5.5 hours of run time.
The 3.1-pound 721-3574 also includes a built-in 1.3MP web camera, HDMI and VGA outputs, microphone, 802.11n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB ports, a multi-in-1 card reader, and a multi-gesture touchpad.
Th Acer Aspire One AO721-3574 is available via Amazon.com for $480.94.
Acer’s latest 11.6 inch thin and light laptop with an AMD chipset is now available for purchase. Amazon is selling the Acer Aspire One 721 for $429.99 plus free shipping.
The laptop, which was introduced last month, features a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo processor and ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics with 384MB of dedicated video memory.
Rounding out the specs are an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel HD display, 250GB hard drive, 2GB of memory, and Windows 7 Home Premium. The laptop has 3 USB ports, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a 1.3MP webcam, and a 4400mAh battery. It weighs 3.1 pounds.
