Asus Eee PC 1015B: 10 inch netbook with AMD Fusion

January 12th, 2011 No comments

When I spotted the Eee PC 1215B laptop at the Asus booth this weekend I had no idea that the AMD Zacate-powered machine had a little brother. But the folks at Notebook Italia dug up some info on a related model called the Asus Eee PC 1015B.

The 1015B has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and a smaller case and keyboard design. But it has the same 1.6GHz dual core AMD 350 processor and AMD Radeon HD graphics, which should offer an overall speed boost over a typical Atom-powered netbook and a much better graphics experience (on par with what you would get from a machine with NVIDIA ION graphics).

There’s no word on pricing or availability yet.

Asus Eee PC 1215T notebook with AMD CPU now available

November 9th, 2010 No comments

Asus has begun shipping the Eee PC 1215T  in the US. This notebook has a 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon Neo K125 CPU and AT Radeon HD 4250 graphics. It’s basically what you would get if you crossed an Eee PC 1215N with an Acer Aspire One 721.

The Eee PC 1215T looks like most other 12 inch notebooks from Asus, which is to say it has a chiclet-style keyboard with flat keys and spaces between them, a nice wide touchpad with a single button below it, and a curved case design which is wider in the back than the front. The notebook has a glossy HD display and HDMI and VGA output. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium and has 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.

What makes the Eee PC 1215T different from most other notebook from Asus are the AMD processor and ATI graphics. While I haven’t tested this model specifically, I can say that based on my experience the ATI K125 CPU offers roughly twice the performance of an Intel Atom N450 chip while the ATI Radeon HD 4200 series graphics chips offer 3D and HD video capabilities that are similar to first generation NVIDIA ION graphics. Not bad for a notebook 3.2 pound notebook that’s selling for $436 at Amazon. There’s no word on the battery life though.

AMD Nile Based ASUS Eee PC 1015T Now Shipping In The US $350

November 4th, 2010 No comments

ASUS have always been quiet about their 1015T series netbook with not an ounce of promotion but it’s finally here nonetheless and shipping in America.

The 1015T packs in AMD’s base level Nile platform so it’ll easily beat any single core Atom / integrated GMA graphics netbook out there, is easily capable of 1080p video playback and includes HDMI out but it’ll end up with much less battery life than any Intel counterpart – ASUS rates the battery at 6 hours, so expect about 4 at best. It has the same design as any recent Seashell netbook and that includes a matte display.

The full specs – 10.1″ 1024 x 600 display (matte), AMD Athlon II Neo V105 (1.2GHz single core) processor, ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, b/g/n WiFi, 10/100 LAN, 0.3MP webcam, 6-cell 48Wh battery (6 hours) and Windows 7 Starter. Ports – the usual including HDMI. Weighs 2.8 lbs.

It’s priced at $350 and you can grab it in various colors.
