Asus K53E Laptop Unveiled

Asustek has released another Intel “Sandy Bridge”-based laptop – the 15.6-inch Asus K53E.

Currently available in the US are two configurations: the Asus K53E-A1 with the Intel Core i3-2310M and the Asus K53E-B1 with the Core i5-2410M processor, both with dual CPU cores. The laptops have the Intel GMA HD integrated GPU, 6GB of DDR3 memory, a 640GB hard drive, DVD burner, 1366×768 LED backlight display, and 6-cell battery.

Asustek’s mainstream-class K53E has a 0.3MP web camera, Altec Lansing speakers, 802.11n wireless, Gigabit Ethernet port, three USB 2.0 connectors, HDMI and VGA video outputs, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and IceCool Technology that keeps palm rests cool, “placing heat-producing components away from users”.

The dark-brown Asus K53E-A1 and K53E-B1 run Windows 7 Home Premium OS and are priced at $631.38 and $723.18, respectively.

The laptop maker has also K53SV and K53SJ listed on the company’s website, but these are not available for purchase. The SV and SJ include dedicated Nvidia video cards and optional Core i7 quad-core processors.

Asus K73 17.3″ Multimedia Laptop Unveiled

Asustek has unveiled details of the Asus K73 17.3-inch multimedia laptop series, featuring the 2nd Gen Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” processors.

There are two Asus K73 models listed on computer maker’s website – the K73SV with the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M 1GB or 2GB video card and the K73E which runs on Intel’s integrated GMA HD graphics. Both notebooks come with the dual-core Intel Core i3-2310M, i5-2410M and quad-core i7-2630QM processor, up to 750GB hard drive with Windows 7 pre-loaded, support for up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and DVD burner or Blu-ray combo drive.

The 17.3″ display has 1600×900 resolution and LED backlight.

The K73 incorporates Altec-Lansing speakers, a 0.3MP web camera, HDMI and VGA outputs, Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, four USB 2.0 ports, and an SD/MS/MMC media card reader.

Regarding design, the laptop sports a chiclet-style keyboard and IceCool Technology that keeps palm rests cool, placing heat-producing components away from users. The chassis has aluminum-textured finish. Palmrest color choices are black and silver.

With the standard six-cell battery, the Asus K73 weighs around 7 pounds.

Asus G74 Gaming Laptop Showed Off

Asustek has showed off their first Asus G74 series gaming laptop model – the G74SX 3D.

The G74 has a 17.3-inch 3D-capable full HD display, the Intel Core i7 2630QM quad-core “Sandy Bridge” processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M video card, four SODIMM slots for up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, and two hard drive bays.

It provides a 3D Vantage benchmark score of 10,000+ points, according to Asustek.

Regarding design, the Asus G74 looks simpler than the previous G73 series. It has a matte finish all over the chassis, with a red thin line on the front edge. Also, the display is non-glossy, which is a change over the previous version.

The laptop has an isle-style keyboard, a toolless removable bottom of the case for easy access to HDDs and RAM, and a new cooling system with dual fans.
