When Dell introduced the Adamo in 2009, it was widely viewed as the company’s answer to the MacBook air. It was a super-thin notebook with a 13.4 inch display measuring just 0.65 inches thick and carrying a premium price tag of about $2000 — much like Apple’s first ultrathin laptop.
The price has fallen pretty significantly over the past few years, and the laptop got even thinner. But the compay is pulling the plug on its premium ultrathin laptop and killing off the Adamo line.
CNET reports that dell does plan to introduce a new ultrathin laptop within the next 6 months. But the new model will wear an Inspiron, XPS, or Alienware brand name rather than Adamo.
While it looks like new Adamo laptops have been pulled from Dell’s web store, you can still find some pretty good deals on refurbished models at the Dell Outlet, with prices as low as $759.
Dell revealed a new laptop with super sleek design called Adamo notebook.
Now it’s powered by Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 1.4GHz processor, 2GB DDR3 dual channel SDRAM 800 MHz and 13.4-inch HD WLED display with 1366×768 pixel resolution.
This Dell Adamo now going on sale with price only $799 featuring 128GB of SSD storage, Intel GS45 integrated graphic card (256MB share memory), intel 5300 WLAN 802.11 mini card, HD audio 2.0, Dell wireless 370 bluetooth module 2.1+EDR, integrated gigabit network and 40 WHr Lithium Polymer battery.

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard any news from the Adamo camp, but for those looking to blow a bit of that Santa cash on something thin and light, the timing here couldn’t possibly be better.
Nearly 1.5 years after the 13-inch ultraportable was let loose — for $1,999 and up, no less — a new low-cost configuration has emerged at Dell’s website. These days, $899 gets you a 0.65-inch thick machine, complete with a 13.4-inch WLED display (1366 x 768 resolution), 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600 processor, a 64-bit copy of Windows 7 Home Premium and 4GB of DDR3-800 memory. You’ll also get a 128GB SSD, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a 40 WHr Lithium Polymer battery, and if you’re down for spending a bit more, you can grab an internal mobile broadband module as well. Or, you know, you could wait and see what kind of treasures CES brings. Your call.
Another Dell product in our collection — The chassis Dell Adamo XPS consists of a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor and Mobile Intel GS45 (integrated) graphics.
With the keyboard sitting at about a 20-degree angle, it provides a better raised typing experience than the conventional flat one. Its lack of SD cardslot is overcome by the fact that it is perfect for everyday multitasking. Added to it are 4GB, 800MHz DDR2 memory and 128GB SSD hard drive. The 13.4-inch LED display has a 1,366×768-pixel native resolution. At $1,999, Dell has put great efforts in creating high-end products.
This super slim Dell Adamo laptop is powered by 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo SU9300, has 2GB DDR3 800MHz RAM and 128GB SSD. Display is 1366×768 WLED LCD and 1.3MP Webcam.
For connectivity there is eSATA, 3 x USB 2.0, Wireless-N, Bluetooth 2.1 and Ethernet port. The chassis is torsion-tested aluminum with finish in Pearl or black. It has full-size backlit keyboard, tiny power adapter and nearly 5 hours of battery life. Dell Adamo comes with Windows 7 and free shipping.
The Dell Adamo laptop is a high priced, high powered thin and light machine, with prices starting at $999. The Shenzhen Zingzheng Yu N98 isn’t. But it steals many design cues from Dell’s high end notebook. The difference is that on the inside, the N98 is all netbook — and it has the low $209 price tag to match.
The N98 has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and a choice of 512MB or 1GB of RAM and an 80GB or 160GB hard drive. It’s equipped with a 2400mAh battery, which probably isn’t going to provide more than a few hours of run time.
The laptop does have a few features that you won’t find on a typical netbook, including a metal chassis and an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. But while this little guy looks a bit like the Dell Adamo, I don’t expect any machine with an Atom N270 processor to be a match for an Adamo with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, high performance SSD, and 2GB or more of memory.
