The recenly launched HP Pavilion g series consumer-class budget notebook PCs are now available with AMD’s processors.

Previously Intel-only series now includes the AMD Vision-branded Pavilion g4, g6, and g7 pre-configured models, such as the g4-1015dx, g6-1a60us, and g7-1075dx, all with dual-core AMD CPUs and Radeon 4250 integrated graphics.

AMD-based notebooks used to be cheaper than their Intel counterparts, but the prices are very similar in this case. For example, the 15.6″ g6-1a60us with the AMD Athlon II P360 2.3GHz, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB HDD costs $530.94 (Amazon), while the g6-1a69us with the faster Intel Core i3-380M 2.53GHz CPU, 4GB RAM and a larger 500GB hard drive can be found for $549.99 (HP).

However, advantage of AMD models could be better graphics performance of the Radeon 4250, when compared to Intel’s HD integrated GPUs found in currently available g Pavilions.

Hewlett-Packard has put on sale in the US the recently announced HP Pavilion and HP Pavilion g series consumer notebooks for 2011.

Besides the refreshed case design, the updated 15.6-inch HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition and 17.3-inch dv7t Select Edition come with the latest Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” dual- and quad-core processors and optional AMD Radeon HD 6000M series graphics. The 15.6″ dv6t Quad Edition, and 17.3″ dv7t Quad Edition have been already available with “Sandy Bridge” quad-core CPUs and Radeon HD 6000M, but now also have the new design.

The standard Pavilion dv6t and dv7t still come with the previous generation Intel Core “Arrandale” chips.

On the lower-end of the lineup, there are the new 14″ Pavilion g4t, 15.6″ Pavilion g6t and g6x, and 17.3″ Pavilion g7t, which all have the “Arrandale” dual-core processors and dual-core Pentiums in select models, as well as integrated Intel HD graphics and Radeon 6000M choices.

The g6t and g6x are apparently the same notebooks, with slightly different color choices, but HP says the g6t is for home users, while the g6x is for businesses.

Prices of the Pavilion dv6t Select Edition, dv7t Select Edition, dv6t Quad, and dv7t Quad start at $799.99, $899.99, $999.99, and $1,099.99, respectively.

The g series g4t and g7t start at $499.99 and $599.99, respectively. Because of different basic configurations, the g6t has a base price of $519.99, whereas the g6x starts at $549.99.

All notebooks can be purchased now at Hewlett-Packard’s online store.

The estimated build date for all models is March 25th.

Consumers looking for budget notebooks will find plenty of style in the just-announced HP Pavilion g-series. The company is merging its current G series with the Pavilion line, making it a bit more sleek and stylish. Best of all, the line starts at the low price of $449, making it very affordable.

The terraced keys on the g-series don’t look as nice as the island-style keyboards on the upscale Envy or dv series, but have a slightly concave shape, making them comfortable to type on. Like the current G series, the new notebooks will have a touchpad that’s flush and indistinguishable from the rest of the keyboard deck. However, a microtexture will let your finger know when it’s strayed too far.

A wide variety of color options will be available–Charcoal Gray, Luminous Rose, Pacific Blue, Pewter, Sonoma Red, and Sweet Purple–though not all colors will be available in all corners of the world.

The g-series will come in three sizes: The g4 will have a 14-inch screen, and start at $499; the g6 has a 15.6-inch screen, and stats at $449; the g7 has a 17-inch screen, and starts at $599.

The Asus G Series G51JX is Asustek’s 15.6″ gaming laptop which has been refreshed recently to include the new Core i5 processor.

Currently there are four G51JX models offered: the G51JX-A1 with the Intel Core i7-720QM quad-core CPU and 6GB of DDR3 memory; the G51JX-X1 with the same CPU and 4GB RAM; the G51JX-X3 with the dual-core Core i5-430M and also 4GB memory; and the G51JX-3D which comes with NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology and active shutter glasses for three-dimensional gaming, the i7-720QM, and 6GB RAM.

The notebooks feature the Nvidia GeForce GTS360M 1GB dedicated video card, full HD 1920×1080-pixel LED-backlit displays except the G51JX-3D’s 1366×768 screen, 500GB of hard disk space, and a DVD writer.

Asustek’s G51JX also includes a 2MP web camera, stereo speakers, 802.11n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, four USB ports, an eSATA port, an ExpressCard slot, an 8-in-1 media card reader, Firewire, and VGA and HDMI outputs.

The laptop weighs around 7.3 pounds with the standard 6-cell battery and run Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

The A1 and 3D models come with a backpack and mouse, which are not included with the X1 and X3.
