ASUS Transformer Prime Gets WiFi Boosting & Reboot Issue Fixing Update

February 15th, 2012 Tanya Comments off

We don’t even need to tell out of the Transformer Prime’s success as the tablet has quickly become one of the most highly sought after Android tablets on the market. Much of this can be attributed that it’s the first device to hit the market complete with NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor in addition to the fact that its predecessor, the Eee Pad Transformer, was so highly successful.

However, there have been some issues with the Transformer Prime but ASUS is doing what they can to fix this issues via software updates. Today, the company has begun the roll out of an update that will apparently boost the tablet’s WiFi reception and fix an issue users faced when rebooting the device.

As always, the update is being sent out over the air so sit tight.

ASUS Transformer Prime Android 4.0 Update Not Working for Some

January 18th, 2012 Tanya Comments off

ASUS has showed us that high end Android powered tablets are capable of competing with the iPad with a bit of clever marketing. Their debut Honeycomb powered device, the Eee Pad Transformer, came equipped with a keyboard dock that essentially allows you to turn the tablet into a laptop. Following up on the success of the Transformer, ASUS debuted the Transformer Prime complete with NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor.

While things seem to be chugging along nicely for the Transformer Prime, some users have reported the fun has come to an abrupt halt. As you’re sure to know, the Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ 4.0 roll out for the Transformer Prime is well under way with many happy consumers reporting great results.

Unfortunately for a select few it seems the be the exact opposite. Reports have begun rolling in that say some users are plagued with an issue regarding the device’s serial number that prevents it from being installed. While we haven’t heard anything from ASUS just yet that’s sure to change quite soon and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

Sony Tablet P available online, the P is short for pricey

November 28th, 2011 Tanya Comments off

Sony’s second avant-garde tablet a la Android, the Tablet P, has finally made its high-fashioned self available online in the UK. The 3G-capable model has been slapped with a hefty £500 ($774) price tag, possibly explained in part by the pair of 5.5-inch touchscreens, which both tap into the same TruBlack technology used in Sony’s Bravia TV range.

The dual screen setup means that controls can be split to the lower half — ideal for PlayStation-certified gaming or the occasional email barrage. If curiously curved clam shapes are doing it for you, offer up your pound sterling at the source link below.

Google runs out of Cr-48 Chrome OS notebooks

March 14th, 2011 Tanya No comments

Google has been sending out Cr-48 notebooks loaded with the Chrome OS browser-based operating system since late last year.

But after shipping thousands of free laptops, the company has apparently run out of test units… at least “for now.”

Google’s Sundar Pichai posted on Twitter that the company has shipped all of its Cr-48 units, and that “partner devices” will be available in mid-2011.

Last we’d heard, Acer and Samsung were slated to be among the first PC makes to product Chrome OS notebooks, but so far no official products have been announced.

Google Cr-48 Chrome OS Notebook Unveiled

December 9th, 2010 Tanya No comments

Google today unveiled the Cr-48, the first notebook based on Chrome operating system.

The Google Cr-48 is not a mass market product. Instead, Google will distribute the notebook through the Chrome OS Pilot Program for testing purposes.

The 3.8-pound ultraportable has a 12-inch display, full-size keyboard without function keys and with a search key instead of caps-lock, an oversized trackpad, Flash memory-based storage, Wi-Fi and 3G connections, a web cam, USB port, and VGA output. There’s no info on processor and RAM.

According to Google, the Cr-48 boots in about 10 seconds and resumes from sleep mode instantly. It provides a battery life of “over eight hours of active usage and a week of standby time”.

Chrome OS notebooks for the mass market are expected to be available in the middle of next year.
