Sony introduced the Vaio YB series 11.6 inch laptop with an AMD E-350 Zacate processor last month, and the laptop is now available for around $550 in the US. Now it looks like Sony is offering a variation on the theme in Italy. The Sony Vaio YA looks virtually identical to the YB, but it has an Intel processor instead of an AMD chip.

The Sony Vaio YA is available with a choice of an Intel Core i3-380UM processor or a Core i5-470UM chip. It has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and runs Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional.

The base model of the laptop comes with 2GB of RAM and 320GB of RAM, but it can also be configured with more storage, a high performance solid state drive, and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory. Sony says a standard battery should provide up to 6 hours of run time, while a 12 hour battery is also available.

Prices in Europe start at € 649, or about $887, but that includes the VAT. If and when Sony offers the Vaio YA in the US, it will likely carry a much lower price tag.

Sony’s AMD Fusion Zacate based, 11.6-inch Vaio YB is already available on home soil back in Japan but now it’s just arrived in the US. Sony Style  is now selling pink and white models for $600.

That gets you a dual core E-350 (1.6GHz) processor, 11.6″ 1366 x 768 (glossy) display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, Gigabit LAN, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, HDMI out and Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. The standard battery is good for up to 6 hours while the extended battery, sold separately is good for up to 13 hours.

Amazon  has a slightly cheaper model up for pre-order, in silver for $550. That’s with 2GB of RAM instead of 4GB and a 320GB HDD instead of a 500GB HDD. Sony.. Green (in Japan), Silver and Pink? Give me black and a matte screen and then I might consider this!

Sony Vaio VGN-NW270F/S has a built in wireless LAN antenna.

The model weights 6lbs with 1.2 inch height, 9.8 inch depth and 14.6 inch width. Intel Core2Duo T6600 2.2 GHz microprocessor is provided with 320GB hard drive of speed Serial ATA-150-5400rpm. Operating system provided is Microsoft windows7 home premium. It has high definition audio speakers producing good quality sound. The display type is 15.5 inch TFT active matrix with widescreen display and maximum resolution of 1366×768(WXGA). Sony VAIO Eco VPC-W212AX is a notebook with screen size 10.1 inches diagonal and 1.0 to 2.0 inches height.

The entire model along with AC adapter weighs around 3.3\2.8 pounds. It has an in build 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450 processor with windows7 starter operating system installed. The model consists of a hard drive of 250GB with 5400 rpm speed. Internal memory is 1GB. It has three USB2.0 input and output slots with SD card reader. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also available with Ethernet networking system. The model comes with a limited 1 year warranty.

The VPC-Y218FX is a new addition in the Y series family of Sony VAIO. The VPC-Y218FX is incorporated with 1.2GHz Intel Pentium U5400 processor and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Graphics. The WXGA LCD display screen is 13.3 inch with resolution ratio of 16:9 and 1366 by 768 pixels. This Sony VAIO is equipped with memory of 4GB DDR3, and hard drive of 500GB. VPC-Y218FX offers wide wireless connectivity options like, Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, and Bluetooth. The VPC-Y218FX comes with the 64-bit Window 7 Premium, Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition and 30-day trial Norton Security.

Inspired by Dell’s Inspiron Duo with that unique hinge is this unnamed 9-inch netvertible straight out of Shenzhen in China. Your first impression probably wasn’t the screen hinge though, and probably the keyboard design, which looks a lot like the Sony Vaio P.

I guess you could say this is sort of like a Sony Vaio P with a touchscreen, except not getting anywhere close in regards to thinness and weight. When rolled over into tablet mode, there are a series of buttons accessible on the bezel.

Nice design overall but the specs don’t match Dell’s offering. Here, we’ve got an Intel Atom N450 processor, integrated graphics, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB HDD, 8.9″ 1024 x 600 display with capacitive touch, webcam, Windows 7 and a 7.4V, 3000 mAh battery and ports – 2 x USB 2.0, audio jacks, VGA, RJ45 and SD card reader. It’ll be available in four colors.

No word on how much this costs or when it’s coming out over there in China.

Sony VAIO FW480J/T is a very impressive laptop, with Blu-ray functionality making it even more efficient.

It also features a well designed and good quality keyboard. Being flat the keyboard does not cause any obstacles.
